Your contribution

An effective partnership between parents/carers and Seedlings is a valuable component in a child's development, and in order for your child to derive the maximum benefit from the education and care we offer it is important for you to understand something of the Montessori Method.

  • We run Open Evenings, talks and other events throughout the year to help parents in their understanding of what the children are learning. We hope you will be happy to join us.
  • You are also very welcome to arrange to observe in the setting to see at first hand how your child is developing and interacting with others in the environment.
  • Please bear in mind that your child's learning progress should not be measured only in terms of papers, pictures or other 'work' that he/she brings home. It is known that children internalise information which they reveal at the most unexpected moments, often months after it has been acquired.
  • We keep detailed records of the progess of each individual child and hold regular parents' evenings, which give parents the opportunity to meet the staff more formally and discuss the progress of their own child. These meetings are usually held in the evening to enable parents to discuss children's progess without the children present and parents should make every effort to attend. We provide final progress reports for children leaving the nursery.
  • We often like to invite parents to contribute actively to the children's learning, for example by coming in to help celebrate a special festival, or to help out with art projects or cooking, or indeed anything that involves sharing skills and expertise.
  • We send out regular newsletters to keep parents updated on nursery plans and events and to help you to feel involved.
  • It is always possible to book an appointment to talk over any concerns.
